The San Bernardino City Unified School District board returned from closed session and announced several actions. The board approved the appointment of Amy Copelan as an elementary school principal (effective date, work year and salary to be determined), with superintendent and board members welcoming her to the role.
The board also accepted and adopted the recommendation and findings of a hearing panel ordering the expulsion of students identified in the closed-session materials, and it approved the notice of recommendation and statement of charges to suspend a certificated employee without pay pending dismissal (file HR-CERT-25-26-01). Each motion was moved and seconded and carried on roll-call votes recorded in the minutes.
Board members thanked staff and acknowledged the personnel actions as part of regular district oversight. No names of expelled students were read aloud โ the action referenced student identification numbers in the packet โ and the suspension item cited the HR case file number from personnel records.
