City staff says Senator Hoeven secured $100M for Red River Valley water project; additional funding sought

“Senator Hoeven from North Dakota has uh secured $100 million for the uh Red River Valley water supply project. Um and he is uh he is working uh and seeking an additional 350 million,” Brian said.
Brian said he and Keith will participate in a Teams call with the City of Grand Forks, which is analyzing Red Lake River flows to determine needs for the larger project. Brian also said he continues to work with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to resolve technical questions tied to the Lime Pond project.
The commission did not take action on the regional funding at the meeting; Brian reported the funding update as background for regional planning and coordination.
Next steps: Brian and Keith will join the Grand Forks call to review flow analyses and report back to the commission as the regional project planning progresses.
