The Isanti City Park Board on the evening agenda reviewed a recent staffing shift intended to preserve institutional knowledge and previewed a packed summer events calendar.
Josie, who introduced herself as the city administrator, told the board that park inspections will move to the Public Works department while seasonal parks staff will take on weeding and ongoing maintenance to reduce turnover and training loss. "I'm Josie, I'm the city administrator," she said when introducing herself and explaining short‑term coverage plans.
The change is intended to keep seasonal crews in roles where they can build continuity and reduce the loss of knowledge that followed prior staff turnover. Staff also said two new full‑time Public Works employees will start in April to support seasonal positions and maintenance schedules.
Board members pressed staff for clearer budget figures. Staff committed to providing a breakdown of summer events and project balances, saying they would return numbers for the board to review before council consideration.
The board also reviewed a draft summer events slate. Staff named several tentative shows and family events: a family event billed as "De's Wiggle Jiggle Jam" on June 24, a Splash Summer Bash on July 10 at Bluebird Park supported by a county youth scholarship donation, and a mix of Wednesday evening performances and an "Amp It Up" concert series through August and September. Staff said some events still require council approval; if the summer series is not approved, several standalone events would still proceed.
Members discussed volunteer roles, on‑site identification (shirts or badges) for volunteers, and using a summer intern to support event logistics. Staff agreed to put together a park‑visit checklist and an events cost summary for the board ahead of the planned April 28 park visits.
The board approved routine meeting actions earlier in the evening and moved on to other park business, including capital projects and procurement discussions.
