Bayonne School District says it passed New Jersey accountability review with high marks

Superintendent Dr. Dean, superintendent of the Bayonne School District, announced during the board's workshop that the district successfully completed and defended the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC).
"It is with great pride and excitement that I announce the successful completion and defense of the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum by the Bayonne School District," Dr. Dean said, thanking board members, central office administration, building-level administrators, directors, teachers, support staff and community members.
Dr. Dean said the district exceeded expectations on the review, reporting a score of 80% in a critical instructional area, perfect scores of 100% in operations, personnel and governance, and a 94 in fiscal management. He added that about 50% of districts statewide failed to meet QSAC standards in some areas, often due to deficiencies in instruction and programming.
The superintendent credited curriculum directors and teachers for aligning curriculum documents and instructional practices with State standards and said the results reflected student proficiency and growth in English language arts, math and science assessments. "While we celebrate this remarkable achievement as a highly performing district, we recognize that our journey of continuous improvement is far from over," he said.
The board applauded the announcement. The workshop proceeded with additional agenda items and the board planned to move into an executive session after the public portion of the meeting.
