Zack Ogle, Sierra project manager for Cape Coral City, updated the CRA on maintenance and project work in the Sierra district, outlining recent and upcoming work to support downtown activation.
Ogle described maintenance crews pressure‑washing pavers in front of Hampton and along 47th Terrace, trimming alleyway vegetation and restoring landscaping near the new Bimini Square project. "We pressure washed the pavers to give it a better enhanced appearance," Ogle said.
On projects, staff are advancing two parking‑lot designs (about 40 and 23 spaces) and intend to combine construction into one bid package to save time and cost. An RFI for activating Big John's area and doubling public parking was discussed; Ogle said the RFI had not been issued but would be prepared and scheduled for distribution.
Ogle explained the Palm Tree Boulevard median landscaping budget rose from an early estimate (about $1.5 million) to roughly $3 million after design added access‑management work, expanded medians and additional curbing and plantings. He also reported the Cape Coral Parkway streetlight retrofit is largely complete on eastbound lanes but a small number of damaged poles remain outstanding and will delay full completion until replacements arrive.
Regarding Bimini East, staff reported they anticipate presenting a plan to city council by the end of April 2026 and are coordinating utility vacation‑of‑easement letters; some easement responses remain outstanding.
