Highlands council awards Marine Place East pedestrian-improvements contract; work expected to take about 60 days

At the May 7 meeting the Borough Highlands Council adopted resolution R25-110 awarding a fair-and-open contract for pedestrian improvements on Marine Place East and later adopted resolution R25-111 to authorize professional construction administration and inspection services for the same project.
A staff member asked to explain the scope said the work will mirror improvements on the other side of Marine Place, adding a walkway with adjacent concrete, stairwells and ramps. "We're going to have a nice walkway, but in addition to that, they are going to put in a concrete that will go along the walkway... we anticipate the project taking about 60 days," the staff member said.
Roll call on R25-110 recorded one abstention (Council Chilac) and the remaining members voted in favor; the resolution carried. R25-111, the non-fair-and-open contract for construction administration and inspection services, also carried by roll call.
What’s next: Staff will proceed with contract execution and project mobilization; council recorded a planned construction timeline of roughly 60 days. Council also authorized related inspection services to oversee the work.
