County to seek bid to sell surplus law enforcement training equipment for $7,335 store credit

Mr. Wayne Zah told members the equipment — which includes training weapons and grenade-launcher-type items — cannot be publicly advertised or sold in some ways and is difficult to transfer to other agencies because of upkeep concerns. “We were going to grind it, get rid of it, trash it,” Mr. Zah said. A federal firearms licensed dealer within Tennessee offered a bid and a store credit of $7,335, which staff called preferable to outright destruction. Mr. Zah said staff will return at the next meeting with the precise number and a formal recommendation.
Members asked whether the dealer would hold the equipment and were told yes; staff will bring the formal sale recommendation and exact terms at the next meeting. The proposal to accept a store credit instead of destroying the equipment will be an agenda item at the next meeting.
