Commissioners honor public works staff, reappoint Larimore to Public Landings board

Dan Mattson, director of public works, introduced several staff members and described the department’s responsibilities for county roads, water and wastewater systems, buildings and solid-waste programs. "If people can turn on their tap or drive down the road ... that means my team is doing its job well," Mattson said, urging recognition of the department’s around-the-clock work.
Commissioner Nickerson read a proclamation declaring May 17–23, 2026 as National Public Works Week in Kent County. The proclamation text recognized the county public-works staff and described the services they provide to public health, safety and comfort.
The board also approved a nomination to reappoint C. Clay Larimore to a five-year term (07/01/2026–06/30/2031) on the Kent County Public Landings and Facilities Board. The nomination was moved and seconded and the board voted aye to confirm the reappointment.
