Warren County ABC Board authorizes lighting and HVAC work, sets rebid for box truck

The Warren County ABC Board on Jan. 9 authorized repairs and upgrades at two stores and set a timetable to rebid a surplus box truck.
Jamie H. Williams, General Manager and Finance Officer, told the board she had been unable to find an electrician to repair the Lake Gaston store sign and had contacted Lynch’s Signs of Roanoke Rapids to perform the sign work. Williams also said she received a quote from Larry Butler to replace the Norlina store showroom lights with LED fixtures and bulbs that would last longer than the traditional bulbs. Danylu Hundley moved to hire Larry Butler to replace all showroom lighting at the Norlina store for an amount not to exceed $10,000; Henry Durham Jr. seconded the motion and it was approved.
Williams reported she had contacted several HVAC companies about installing a mini-split unit and performing required electrical work at the Norlina warehouse without success; Henry Durham Jr. provided an additional contact for AB Robinson. The board approved a motion by Danylu Hundley, seconded by Effie Adams, authorizing Williams to proceed with the HVAC work for the whole project, including electrical, not to exceed $5,500.
On the board’s review of bids for a surplus box truck, Williams said two bids were tied at the same amount. The board directed Williams to contact all bidders and invite resubmissions starting at $5,200 by Jan. 16, 2025; the board specified that once bids are considered the truck will be sold and the sale closed out no later than Jan. 31, 2025.
