Board member Dr. Morgan announced at the May 13 meeting that she is resigning from the Monongalia County Board of Education effective at the end of the meeting.
"Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it's self-preservation," she said, citing the need to step back and attend to family and personal priorities. Dr. Morgan thanked colleagues, staff and community supporters and urged board members to continue asking questions about spending items and advocating for children.
Board members spoke in appreciation of Dr. Morgan’s service and the board then took a motion to accept her resignation; the motion carried by voice vote.
The board did not discuss a replacement process in detail at the meeting; no appointment was made at this session.
