Purchasing staff presented RFP 260013 seeking districtwide multifunction print equipment and services. The solicitation required proposers to include at least one full-time employee to operate the McCollum High School print shop; the district currently operates roughly 150 copiers and is conducting a utilization assessment that may reduce that number as campuses consolidate.
Myrna Martinez, on behalf of the evaluation committee, said eight vendors responded and the committee recommended awarding the lease to Toshiba Business Solutions at an estimated annual cost of $185,854 for three years with an option to renew up to two additional years for a total not to exceed $929,269. Funding would come from various campus and department budgets and districtwide sources.
Trustees asked whether Toshiba equipment had been used previously and staff said the district had used Ricoh and later Sharp; Toshiba equipment had been used for other devices in the past (cameras), but the district had not used Toshiba for the copier fleet. Martinez said utilization data would be available next week and copier counts could be reduced.
