Myrna Martinez described the scope: the proposed IP-based solution would replace the existing, failing systems with a networked platform capable of daily announcements, bells, administrative paging and emergency messaging. The recommendation includes labor, materials, software, licensing, configuration and commissioning to deliver a fully operational system.
Emergency-management staff and trustees discussed whether a new system could eliminate the district’s Raptor visitor-management system. Eric Forster said current Raptor costs were approximately $35,000 up front and about $21,000 per year and that a new integrated system could allow the district to phase Raptor out over time.
Administration said bond interest made the purchase feasible under the capital plan; trustees asked about priorities among other aging systems (fire alarms, HVAC) and staff noted those needs will be evaluated alongside this procurement. The presentation closed with staff asking the board to consider approval and proceed with procurement steps.
