Council considered Resolution 2026-18, a three-year all-inclusive electricity contract arranged through the municipal procurement coalition and brokered by Tradition/FreePoint Energy.
Council member Lindsey presented the agreement and explained the intent: locking a multi-year rate to hedge against expected increases. Lindsey said the contract number arrived shortly before the meeting and explained that neighboring entities had already approved the arrangement.
The council amended the final section of the resolution to reflect a per-kilowatt rate of $10.95 and then moved and seconded the resolution for approval. A motion was made and seconded to approve Resolution 2026-18 with the amended rate; the Mayor and Council then voted in favor by voice vote and the Moderator declared the resolution approved. “Resolution 20 26 dash 18 is approved and that contract will be executed by the end of the week,” the Moderator said.
No detailed roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript; the meeting record shows a voice vote in favor after the opportunity for public comment concluded. Staff indicated the only city account not initially included in the coalition pricing was Pawnee Reservoir, which may be handled separately.
Next steps: city staff will execute the contract before the stated procurement deadline and update accounting/operations to reflect the new fixed rate.
