Beaumont baseball coach urges district to fix drainage and provide restrooms

“Our field doesn't drain very good… we've had to cancel games, practices just because it's unsafe for us to have the boys out there and playing,” Alex said, urging the district to assign dedicated maintenance, repair drainage and provide a semi-permanent porta-potty so players, parents and spectators — including those using wheelchairs — have reasonable restroom access.
Board members asked clarifying questions about alternative fields and equipment storage; Alex said the district’s newer JV field is shorter and that the program’s equipment is kept at the larger field, complicating temporary moves. The coach also described logistical barriers to using locker-room facilities, noting students would miss classes if they walked to the main locker rooms between periods.
The board indicated staff would follow up to gather more information and explore possible maintenance and restroom solutions. No formal action was taken during public comment.
