The Franklin Township Trails Advisory Committee approved its November meeting minutes and closed its public comment period without receiving comments at the Dec. 10 meeting.
The committee also provided several routine updates: the Franklin Township Astronomy Club continues monthly meetings at the recreation building and will present a dark‑skies initiative to the Environmental Commission in early February; the club is conducting meteor observations at the John Clyde Memorial Native Grasslands Preserve and invited the public to attend.
Members reported trail maintenance items: work on a bird blind at Negri is continuing, some horizontal fence rails at John Clyde are degrading and several fallen trees on the orange trail will need trimming (none currently block passage). The chair said driveway drainage at John Clyde has improved compared with last year.
A seasonal reminder: the chair said gun hunting season began Dec. 8 and that grasslands are closed to hikers on weekdays through Feb. 14, with Sundays remaining open for public use; the restriction applies to County Route 518 areas as noted during the meeting.
The committee closed the meeting with holiday greetings and will meet in person on Jan. 14.
