Spokane council approves consent agenda: fleet purchases, grants and an accounting director appointment

The Spokane City Council cleared a broad consent agenda that included vehicle acquisitions, grant acceptance and appointments.
Among consent items, the council approved purchases that included battery-electric pickup trucks and diesel replacements for fleet needs; those pairings of items were recorded as adopted during the consent vote. Council members also accepted a $200,000 youth wellness loan initiative intended to support youth services, and adopted a special budget ordinance amending the mid-biennial budget to accept a Healthy and Sustainable Communities grant. Council unanimously approved these measures.
Council members used the consent discussion to highlight local preservation and housing efforts. Council Member Dillon noted that the Briggs Apartments at 225 S. Wall Street was placed on the historic places registry and praised the Historic Preservation Office’s work on salvaging a building that had recently been boarded and fenced. Members also thanked the administration for working with local business associations on rate corrections and other stakeholder engagement.
Council voted 7–0 on several resolutions and ordinances on the consent agenda, and additionally approved a resolution appointing Joshua Lipps as the city’s director of accounting with welcoming remarks to the appointee.
