San Bernardino County supervisor presents $3 million; district honors 48 PBIS Gold and 8 Platinum schools

San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baka Jr. visited the school board meeting to present a county contribution and recognize district successes.
Maria Garcia, the district communications manager, introduced Supervisor Baka and described the county’s prior support for district projects. “Please put your hands together for Supervisor Joe Baka Jr.,” she said. Supervisor Baka described his earlier work that helped secure land for Curtis Middle School and said his office recently presented a $3 million check to support the district’s Field of Dreams project at Curtis.
After the check presentation, the board and executive cabinet recognized 40 PBIS Gold and eight Platinum schools. Directors said schools earned awards for building schoolwide systems that increase attendance, reduce bullying and improve learning conditions. Individual administrators and designated staff came forward for group photographs.
Board members applauded the county’s support and district staff for the PBIS work and photography opportunities followed the ceremony.
