The Town of Farmington Green Efforts committee on Wednesday finalized logistics for the townwide cleanup scheduled for April 25.
Committee members confirmed they will use donated gift cards (including cards from Naples, Fork and Fire and Wooden Tap) as prizes and agreed to distribute flyers at the library and local businesses such as Highland Park Market and Liquid Nirvana. Members decided committee volunteers will staff four collection stations (including the Farmington Firehouse and other neighborhood collection points) with a morning shift leading into an afternoon shift; the chair will circulate a final shift schedule by email.
Operational details were set: tubs containing grabbers, bags, tablecloths and hand sanitizer will be left at collection stations and picked up by the highway department on the Monday following the event; one member will retrieve the tubs from highway on Monday morning. Weights for canopies have arrived and the remaining canopy pieces are on order. The committee agreed to print additional flyers and to post them on business bulletin boards and school distribution channels where permitted.
The committee also agreed to follow a simplified volunteer sign‑up process: the current online form will collect where volunteers intend to collect trash, and committee members will staff stations to assure coverage rather than relying on the signup form to assign shifts.
Next steps: the chair will email final station assignments and shift coverage; members will distribute flyers and confirm pickup logistics with the highway department.
