Wildwood Crest governing body adopts bond ordinances and multiple code changes, unanimously approves several resolutions

At its meeting the Borough of Wildwood Crest governing body approved two bond ordinances totaling $8.5 million in appropriations, advanced four other ordinances to public hearing on April 30, 2025, and adopted a package of resolutions authorizing funding applications, budget amendments and procurement actions. The Borough of Wildwood Crest governing body voted unanimously to adopt two bond ordinances and to advance several other local code changes and administrative resolutions.
Ordinance 1450, described by the clerk as “a bond ordinance appropriating $4,500,000 and authorizing the issuance of $4,275,000 bonds or notes” to fund various borough improvements, was placed on second and final reading, opened for public comment (no speakers), and adopted on a unanimous roll-call vote by Mr. Schiff, Mr. Franco and Mr. Cabrera. Shortly after, the council adopted Ordinance 1451, a separate bond ordinance “providing for the improvement of the sanitary sewage system,” appropriating $4,000,000 and authorizing $4,000,000 in bonds.
The council also advanced Ordinances 1453 (fire prevention — additional inspections and fees), 1454 (rental property occupancy limits), 1455 (vehicle identification for beach access) and 1456 (rules for basketball, pickleball and tennis courts) on first reading and scheduled them for second and final public hearings on April 30, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
In a series of roll-call votes the governing body adopted resolutions to: authorize a loan application to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank to fund sanitary sewer and roadway restoration projects; amend the 2025 municipal budget to reflect additional funding from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety for a Distracted Driving Enforcement Mobilization Grant; authorize procurement for the installation of batting cages under state contract for public works; appoint Joseph Plucino as an advisory member of the Wildwood Crest Green Team (term expiring Dec. 31, 2026); support re-certification of the borough’s application to the U.S. Coast Guard for official Coast Guard community designation; authorize online auction of abandoned vehicles; explore a shared services agreement with the Borough of Stone Harbor for Uniform Construction Code services; add New York Life as an employee payroll-deduction option; and amend the budget to reflect additional funds from the Atlantic County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund Safety Incentive Program.
A motion that all properly authorized bills be paid also passed on unanimous roll call.
Why it matters: The two bond ordinances create a financing path for capital and sanitary-sewer work the borough said it plans to undertake, while the package of ordinances and resolutions updates permitting fees, public-safety and beach-management rules and authorizes budget and procurement steps needed for operations and small capital projects.
Looking ahead: The council set April 30, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. as the public hearing date for several of the newly introduced ordinances. Further details on project timing and financing were not provided during the meeting and will be resolved in subsequent reports and meetings.
