MPC's recommendation was for approval; the staff report noted the property had operated commercially for roughly 16 years, including as a hair salon, and that public services and parking exist on site.
A representative for the petitioner said the proposed use is an interior-design studio operating mostly by appointment and that rezoning would make the use legally compliant. The council closed the public hearing and, by motion, considered the first reading the second and passed the ordinance on the floor by voice vote.
Next steps: with the ordinance passed as read, the rezoning will be reflected in the city's zoning map and the property owner may proceed with the permitted OIT uses consistent with city code and any permit requirements.
