The North Ogden City Council approved an encroachment agreement that will allow facade improvements and canopies on the Cannery building to extend into a portion of the city right‑of‑way. City staff explained that the design preserves ADA access and public movement along the sidewalk while enabling the owner to make facade improvements to a prominent historic building.
Staff said the property’s legal description indicates the Cannery owns most of the roadway frontage on record, but a plat to confirm exact lines will be provided to staff. The agreement also clarifies that the permit will not eliminate the owner’s existing access to the south end of the building and will not create private seating or impede the public right of way. The council voted to approve the agreement following a short presentation by staff and comments from the property representative, Sean, who described the building’s history and the proposed improvements.
