The Perry City Council approved a services quotation with Municipal Pipe Tool for the 2026 CIP sanitary sewer project, authorizing rehabilitation work on approximately 8,000 feet of 8‑inch sanitary sewer at a not‑to‑exceed cost of $272,000.
Staff and city project lead Jacob described the lining and lateral‑grouting work: crews place a new structural liner inside the existing pipe and grout service connections two to three feet to seal joints and reduce inflow and infiltration caused by tree roots and lateral deterioration. Jacob said the grouting process uses an inflated plug in the lateral while crews inject grout behind the liner to fill voids around the connection and produce a tighter seal.
Council discussed program duration, the amount of sewer line in the system and the incremental nature of the annual lining program; staff noted the project follows several years of annual sewer lining and inspection to address lines needing attention.
What's next: Municipal Pipe Tool will continue field inspections and provide daily reports as work progresses; staff will monitor performance and adjust future CIP budgets accordingly.
