Elena suggested designating a PRAC member as a liaison to communicate with the Chilkoot Indian Association to get their perspective. “It would be great to hear their perspective as well to get just a deeper understanding of CIA’s interests,” she said, and volunteered to contact CIA if the borough manager approves government‑to‑government outreach.
Committee members asked whether conveyance would affect continued public uses, such as Fourth of July events and camping, and asked staff to confirm any required permissions for government‑to‑government discussions. Tom committed to inviting Mayor Morphett and planner Wu to the March meeting and to gather requested information before then.
No motion or vote was taken; the committee directed staff to collect documents and to invite the mayor and planner to present at the next meeting.
