Auburn Public Works wins full reaccreditation from APWA, earning 100% compliance

The Auburn Department of Public Works received full reaccreditation from the American Public Works Association on Nov. 17, a recognition APWA described as rare and reflective of thorough, sustained documentation and practices.
Rich Bento, APWA region director, told the council that evaluators reviewed 124 practices during an October site visit and recommended full compliance. "Following the evaluation team's recommendation, I'm proud to report that the Auburn Department of Public Works received 100% full compliance with all applicable practices," Bento said. He presented an accreditation plaque and a public‑works first‑responder pin and praised the department’s documentation, succession planning and community services.
The council and staff noted that Auburn’s DPW maintains city and school buildings, parks and cemeteries and that the reaccreditation is the department’s third cycle. Scott Holland and accreditation manager Liz Allen joined the council when the plaque was presented.
The city said it would display the accreditation symbol publicly and continue using the process to drive continuous improvement within DPW.
