Fraternal Order of Police granted free parking for May 14 West Chester memorial

Bob McCarron, president of the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 11, told the committee the event — held during Police Week — will include a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and a reception afterward. McCarron said the group has obtained the street-closure permit and asked that parking in front of the building and Lot 10 be made free for attendees so the public can attend the dedication of a new name on the monument for Corporal Timothy Okconor.
"We are going to shut Church Street down between Patton Alley and West Washington and provide free parking for anyone who wants to come," McCarron said.
Parking staff and the committee raised no operational objections. The committee recorded the action as part of new business and later indicated the committee had approved the request during the meeting (vote recorded as a 3–0 approval on the consent of the body). Staff will implement temporary signage and coordinate the lot closure with public safety and permit conditions.
The committee did not report any associated costs or require conditions beyond usual permit coordination. Next steps: staff will confirm signage and Lot 10 status with the applicant and coordinate traffic control as part of the permit process.
