The Tuscaloosa Planning and Zoning Commission voted March 16 to annex roughly 0.4 acres at 4730 Harky Lane and to rezone the parcel to General Commercial (GC) to support a proposed veterinary hospital.
Planning staff said the property lies in the city's primary expansion area and that the annexation would bring the lot into city limits. "Once annexed, the piece of property would be SFR1. They'd like to reszone to GC General Commercial," staff explained during the presentation, noting the request conforms to the city's framework for corridor commercial use.
Staff also reported engineering comments on street cross‑sections that may affect final subdivision work but said there were no variance requests. The commission approved annexation 0426 and the rezoning (Z0526) by voice votes.
Staff indicated the developer plans to consolidate surrounding lots and build a veterinary clinic; the commission approved annexation and rezoning while subdivision or site details will be addressed in follow‑up materials or future hearings.
