The Mocksville Town Board opened its meeting with a ceremony swearing in three new firefighters and a proclamation recognizing International Firefighters Day.
Derek W spoke on behalf of the Davy County Library system about library services, attendance figures and meeting spaces, and asked the board for continued or additional funding. He said the town previously contributed $33,500 per year and asked for any assistance the town could provide to sustain library services. "I'm just asking if we can have any types of sourcing that would help us to provide our services for the community," Derek told the board.
On financial and operational business, Chuck Willis presented a budget amendment to replace an aging radio control system that connects the town’s water tanks and to integrate tank controls with the county’s water system; he said the town will soon become a bulk water customer of Davy County and recommended using Fort (Charlotte) for SCADA integration. The board approved the budget amendment by voice vote.
Lyn presented audit engagement letters for fiscal year 2026: a $20,000 contract for the town audit and a $1,500 engagement for the tourism board audit, both with Eddie Carrick; the board approved both items.
Janette recommended the reappointment of Marsha Phillips to the Mocksville Tourism Development Authority for a one-year term (expiring February 2027); the board approved the reappointment. The meeting closed after brief staff updates on the downtown master plan, a planned sidewalk project and a DOT four-way-stop outreach process for a downtown intersection.
The board adjourned at the meeting’s conclusion.
