The Santa Paula Unified School District Board approved three administrative appointments at its May 19 special meeting.
Superintendent Weinstein presented candidates ranked highest by both community and executive panels and recommended separate roll-call votes for each hire. The board approved Julie Bergman as Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, approved Dr. Nancy Nazer as the Bedell elementary principal, and ratified a contract for Lori Toms as Chief Business Officer following her recent service as interim CBO.
Trustees voted in favor of each appointment. The superintendent noted that Bergman and Nazer had been ranked first by interview panels that included staff and parents, and that Toms had served as interim CBO in recent months. Trustees congratulated each appointee during the meeting.
The appointments were presented as personnel actions intended to maintain continuity in instructional leadership and business services amid ongoing budget challenges; trustees said keeping experienced staff in place was an immediate priority.
Outcome: All three appointments were approved by roll-call vote. The board indicated it will follow standard onboarding steps for the new hires.
