Lynwood Unified appoints Dr. Patrick Giddis Ramongo as next superintendent after farewell for outgoing leader

The Lynwood Unified School District on Thursday appointed Dr. Patrick Giddis Ramongo as its next superintendent, the board announced following a 5-0 vote at the June 5 regular meeting.

The decision came at the end of an evening that opened with student presentations and a lengthy program honoring outgoing Superintendent Dr. Crossweight. Teachers, students and community members presented plaudits, plaques and a video tribute describing the superintendent's 15 years of local service and community engagement.

Board members moved several consent and action items earlier in the meeting and then announced the appointment read out from closed session. The readout stated the board voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Ramongo and that a contract will be negotiated and presented at a future meeting for formal approval.

The board did not disclose the final contract terms on the dais; the meeting record notes that the contract will be negotiated and subsequently presented for board consideration. No vote tally by individual member name was read aloud beyond the 5-0 count.

The meeting closed with applause and brief remarks from Dr. Ramongo, who thanked the board and community for the opportunity and said he looks forward to working with district staff and families. The board announced the meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m. and scheduled the next regular meeting for June 26, 2025.

The appointment follows a farewell program recognizing the outgoing superintendent's tenure; the outgoing superintendent said he will remain through June 30 and thanked staff, families and board members.
