Hudson Council honors three long-serving HCTV volunteers

Hudson City Council on Monday recognized three longtime volunteers and staff from Hudson Community Television (HCTV), passing three honorary resolutions honoring their years of service.

Mayor opened the honorary-resolutions portion of the meeting by reading Resolution 26-54 honoring Nick Zaklanovich for 15 years of volunteer service as a primary instant-replay operator and public-access producer. Council President Byrd moved to pass the resolution and it was seconded; councilors offered brief tributes describing Zaklanovich’s technical skill and community contributions. The resolution passed by a unanimous roll-call vote.

The council then read Resolution 26-55 honoring Phil Leiter for nearly 30 years of service to HCTV, noting he began recording public meetings in 1997, joined HCTV staff in 1999, produced the program Unlimited Access and won regional awards for his work. Leiter accepted remarks, thanked colleagues and reflected on his decades of work in Hudson.

Resolution 26-56 recognized Ginny Frazier for almost 30 years of service, citing her role as the school-district representative when the Hudson Cable Television Advisory Committee formed in 1996 and her long record of volunteer production work. Councilors praised her contributions and noted arrangements would be made to present the resolution if she was not present to accept it.

All three honorary resolutions were approved by unanimous roll-call votes. Councilors and staff repeatedly credited the HCTV volunteers with preserving public access to meetings and producing community programming.

Council President Byrd invited recipients or their representatives to accept the resolutions during the meeting; several honorees or representatives spoke briefly to thank the council and the community.

The council moved on to other business after the recognitions.
