Monroe Township reports: police dispatch moved to new facility (TCO only), Applegart School reopens, youth advisory council launches

During committee reports at the Jan. 5 regular meeting, Business Administrator Kevin McGowan and council members updated residents on municipal operations and community programs.

McGowan congratulated the newly sworn council president and vice president and recognized retiring employees who were honored earlier in the meeting. He announced staffing transitions, naming employees who will step into new roles. Town engineer Mr. Rosmoitz reported no new engineering items since the last meeting.

Council members provided local updates: Councilman Charles Dapiro said the open-space survey results will be shared and highlighted recreation preferences. Council members reported that the police dispatchers have moved into the township's new dispatch center, furniture for additional police staff was approved, and the project has a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) but no final certificate of occupancy (CO) or date for a CO yet. "We have a TCO," the administrator said when asked; when asked whether there was a CO, the clerk answered no and said there is no set date for a final CO.

Council members also noted Applegart School has reopened after work on a boiler and roof partially funded by the township. Councilwoman Miriam Cohen announced the Youth Advisory Council has about 20 participating students and the Cultural Arts Commission will host a juried art show at the library from Jan. 10 through February.

The reports combined personnel, facilities, and community-program updates that the council said would continue to be tracked through departmental follow-up.
