At the public comment portion of the meeting, AVID teacher Melissa Gamboa described a June 7 field trip for 170 high‑school students that was delayed when buses did not arrive on schedule. Gamboa said the group’s planned departure at 8:00 a.m. was postponed and the team worked through the issue, ultimately departing at 10:13 a.m.
Gamboa credited district administrators and transportation staff — she named Mr. Himenez, Victor Salana and Victor Lopez in her remarks — and thanked four bus drivers (Hector Bravo, Victor Lopez, Enrique Lukin and Manny Okmpo) who stepped in at the last minute. She also thanked other operations staff (named in her comments) who staged buses and supported students while they waited.
Gamboa said administrators extended the students’ time at the destination so the students would receive the full experience despite the delay, and she praised students for remaining calm and respectful during the disruption. She said the experience reinforced staff teamwork and that the chaperones and parents helped keep students calm.
