Council approves $1.36 million contract for Highway 377 electric work

The Granbury City Council voted to award request for proposal 25-26-05 to Revolution Power LLC for overhead work and Renegade Group LLC for underground work on the Highway 377 electric distribution project, approving a construction total of $1,357,460 and a contingency of $340,000. The council authorized the city manager to execute the contracts.

Council member Mr. Kaufman told the council the bids came in higher than expected because ongoing relocation of natural gas pipelines forced project reconfiguration and additional engineering. "This is quite a bit higher than what we anticipated when we began, but as they continue to relocate the natural gas pipelines, it's caused us to have to reconfigure even more, and then and provide some additional engineering," Kaufman said. He added the project needs to be completed by Oct. 1.

Staff said the city advertised the work and a scoring committee selected the recommended firms. Council members and staff noted a wide disparity on one bid; a participant said that discrepancy was related to "the membranes," not labor, which helped explain the higher price on that submission.

Mr. Allen moved to award RFP 25-26-05 as recommended; Mr. Corrigan seconded the motion. The council approved the motion by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript. The city manager was authorized to execute the contracts and proceed with project work under the approved contingency.

The contracts cover electric distribution work on the Highway 377 project; staff said the work must be finished by Oct. 1. No additional funding sources or contract start dates were specified in the transcript.
