Ellie Meadows, secretary of Friends of Denny Blaine, said the park is an “irreplacable part” of her life as a queer resident and asked the council to act. Other speakers, including Simon Thornton, said the resolution already has endorsements and asked the committee to permit a public hearing and vote.
Committee staff did not take action on the resolution during the meeting; public commenters requested that Parks and City Light schedule the item for committee consideration so the council can act in public.
