Board recognizes teachers, proclaims Red Ribbon Week
Summary
The board honored teachers and proclaimed Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 21–25, 2024) as part of a district commitment to drug-prevention education. The superintendent also announced a staff resignation to be recognized in December.
At the Nov. 18 meeting the Hillsborough Township Board of Education recognized staff achievements and adopted a Red Ribbon Week proclamation.
The board president recognized Anena (named a New Jersey Teacher Leader Policy fellow) and teacher Chris Everly, who received a $10,000 surprise award returned to the district (reported as $5,000 to his classroom and $5,000 to Hillsborough High School). The board also celebrated teacher Bob Fener for receiving the 2024 New Jersey Amstead Exemplar high-school award, which the president said included a $2,500 prize for the district.
The board read a proclamation declaring Oct. 21'25, 2024, Red Ribbon Week and committed resources to support drug-prevention activities in partnership with community groups and the Municipal Alliance.
During board remarks, the president acknowledged the resignation of Dr. Kim Feltre, a longtime district staff member since December 2005, and said the board will formally recognize her service at the December meeting.
Board members thanked staff for their work and encouraged continued community engagement.
