In other business, the committee recommended sending the draft noise ordinance to the police chief and deputy chief to get practical input on enforceability, decibel thresholds and complaint procedures before advancing changes.
Members also discussed a disabled-veterans exemption and confirmed that, under recent Connecticut guidance, the exemption can include the home and up to two acres. The new town assessor is reviewing the grand list and the committee expects a draft ordinance or template for review at the next meeting.
On a proposal to create a special ordinance for non-resident landlords, committee members said they see no need for a separate rule and agreed to remove that item from the active list.
