Ventnor City swears in promoted firefighter and new hire

The Ventnor City Board of Commissioners on Tuesday adopted a pair of personnel resolutions and administered the oath of office to two firefighters.
By roll call vote the commissioners approved Resolution 2025-135 promoting Jeffrey Brinberg and Resolution 2025-136 hiring John Cello as a firefighter effective April 27, 2025. After the votes the two men recited the oath of office and posed for photos.
Chair (presiding official) said Brinberg has been with the department since 2011 and is from a multigenerational firefighting family: “I’m told he’s a fourth-generation firefighter,” the chair said, and noted Brinberg’s family in the audience. Both resolutions were moved, seconded and carried by roll call.
Brinberg and Cello recited the standard oath, including a pledge “to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey” and to “faithfully, impartially, and justly perform all the duties of the office of firefighter.”
The swearing-in followed a brief workshop opening and was among several personnel items the commission handled on the consent calendar.
