APRN society asks board for legislative support and better licensing data; department notifies withdrawal after license surrender

Laura Prior, chair for health policy for the Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society, used the public‑comment period at the March 18 Board of Examiners for Nursing meeting to ask the board for help advancing APRN legislative priorities and improving licensing data collection.
"We are inquiring what support or endorsement the board of nursing can provide to APNS in this state," Prior said, and she asked whether the department could add more specific questions to APRN license‑renewal or application forms so the state can better stratify specialty and certification. Prior said she had also sent the inquiry to the Department of Public Health but had not received a response and asked that the matter be placed on a future agenda.
Acting Chair Mary Deepman and other board members acknowledged the request and said they would forward the information to DPH for follow-up and consider adding the item to a future meeting agenda.
Separately during administrative items, the board accepted a late submission to add a notice of withdrawal of the statement of charges in the case of Kristen A. Bryce, LPN (petition number 2024-886). Lisa Freeman moved to add the notice to the agenda and Elizabeth Rivera Rodriguez seconded; the motion carried with recorded affirmative votes by Lisa Freeman, Elizabeth Rivera Rodriguez, Diane Whitley and Mary Deepman.
Department attorney Anthony Nanny reported that Kristen Bryce surrendered her license, and the department is withdrawing the statement of charges; the item was presented as notice and did not require a board vote. The board then approved the minutes of its March 4, 2026 meeting by roll call.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn. Board members and staff noted that hearing links and scheduling information are posted on the DPH administrative calendar and that staff would resend links to members participating in later hearings.
