The Rutherford County Schools board approved several facilities and procurement requests and acted on a transfer-student discipline matter at its April 9 meeting.
Projects approved by voice vote included a CTE storage building for Rockvale High (a 130-by-40-foot metal building estimated at about $60,000 to store a donated Freightliner LaFrance fire apparatus and related emergency-equipment for the CTE program), a concrete project using MTSU's concrete program (materials estimated at $8,000–$10,000), and an athletic-field partnership at Eagleville that will use donor support and Warner Athletic to install synthetic turf (project estimate $1.1 million; the project will secure required TDEC permits and was presented as no cost to the board).
Principal Steve Luker outlined the Rockvale concrete request and said Engineering and Construction had no objections. Principal Tim Pedigo described the Eagleville turf partnership and thanked donors and Smyrna Ready Mix; a board member publicly commended the Souls family and corporate partners for their contributions.
On student-discipline business, the board reviewed a request to admit a transfer student who had been expelled for a threat of mass violence. Under policy 6.318, district staff recommended denying admission for a student under expulsion; the board moved to deny admission and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also approved the Spring 2026 Health Adoption Committee membership and other routine items during the meeting.
