Macomb — The City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance in its second reading to rezone 303 East Calhoun Street and 333 East Calhoun Street to B2 General Business.
City staff told the council the application was filed by the Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation and that the office of community development held a public hearing before the Planning Commission on April 23, 2025. The commission voted 7–0 to recommend approval. If enforced, the change will reclassify 303 East Calhoun from M1 Light Manufacturing and 333 East Calhoun from R32 Family residential to B2 General Business, as shown in the ordinance exhibits.
The council opened the second reading and, after no substantive public comment during the meeting, moved to adopt the ordinance by roll call vote. The motion passed by a unanimous vote of those present.
The ordinance follows the planning commission recommendation and will take effect according to the timelines set out in the adopted ordinance. The city staff record indicates notice of the planning commission hearing was published and signs were posted at the properties prior to the hearing.
