Wabash board names Jen Miller L.H. Carpenter principal, approves hires and accepts retirements

The board accepted resignations from Silvia Santa Cruz Collado (WMHS DLI teacher), Kandy Kugler (transportation assistant), Lori Gunderman (part-time paraprofessional), and Angel Hostetler (middle school cheer coach).
Members also approved the retirement of Matt Stone, chief operations officer and WMHS athletic director, effective April 10, 2026. Board members praised Stone’s 24 years of service and said he would be missed.
Several items tied to student activities were approved in the same session: the WMHS robotics team’s trip to the VEX Robotics World Championship (dates corrected and approved as April 26–30, 2026), and Heartland Career Center students’ travel to a BPA/Nationals cybersecurity competition in Nashville for early May. The board approved summer offerings such as drivers education (classroom $40, behind-the-wheel $360; $400 total) and the Watch Me Grow program staffing; the district noted partial state reimbursement for some positions.
