Wabash City Schools board approves retirement date change, bus use and banked PTO

Wabash City Schools Board of Trustees met in a special session Thursday, April 9, 2026, and approved three routine personnel and operational requests, the board chair said at a Central Office meeting that began at 4:30 p.m.

The board voted to move Matt Stone’s retirement date to June 30, 2026, after a board member said the change was requested by Stone and recommended approval. "I recommend the board approve this request," the board member said during the motion and a voice vote carried the measure.

Trustees also approved a request from Saint Bernard for the use of two Wabash City Schools buses and district drivers for a field trip to the Interpretive Center on Friday, April 17, 2026. Saint Bernard agreed to pay for fuel and drivers’ wages; Mrs. Callahan confirmed to the board that drivers had been secured and that the trip would occur after morning routes and return before afternoon routes.

In a separate motion the board authorized employee number 21 to use banked paid-time-off days as needed through June 30, 2026 while on approved intermittent leave. Board members asked no further questions and approved the request by voice vote.
