County moves to update subdivision rules to match state law; approval subject to final edits

County planning staff briefed the commission on a cleanup and reorganization of the subdivision ordinance (Title 10, chapters 3 and 4) required by recent state law changes. The revisions consolidate duplicated language, move provisions between chapters, and clarify which administrative body will handle final approvals.

Staff said most changes are editorial or organizational to align county code with state requirements and reduce conflicts between local rules and new state standards. The county will keep minimum county road standards in place while not accepting new roads as county-maintained unless they meet the county's minimum standards.

Commissioners and staff noted the draft as presented lacked an attached exhibit listing the detailed text changes. The commission agreed to approve the ordinance subject to attorney revisions and inclusion of an exhibit A (section one) that incorporates the updates by reference; staff will reprint the corrected ordinance for signature.

The commission’s motion approved the ordinance with the requested modifications and directed the county attorney and planning staff to attach the corrected exhibits before final signature and filing.
