Neighbors press township on notice, privacy and safety after large house built at 40 Henshaw

At the public‑comment portion of the meeting, Suzanne Lasapio of 38 Henshaw Avenue urged the township to explain why nearby property owners were not notified about construction at 40 Henshaw, a new home she described as about 3,800 square feet that she says will reduce her privacy.

Zoning officials told the committee the project met existing setbacks and did not require variances, which is why the formal abutter notice process did not apply. The zoning officer and committee members said they would review the matter and visit the site.

Lasapio also reported feeling unsafe at a nearby county park track, describing instances of aggressive behavior while exercising. Committee members suggested follow‑up options, including contacting county police (the track is on county property), filing a local report with township police, and exploring community options such as a panic button or increased patrols. The committee offered to speak with county parks and police off‑line to identify remedies.

Another resident, Bob Yellen (24 Gail Court), described traffic and detour problems during night paving on Mountain Avenue that routed large vehicles into small side streets; committee members said the relevant work and culvert replacement are county projects and provided an update on timing and temporary access plans.

Committee members said they would follow up with the zoning officer and county officials to clarify notice procedures and safety responses; no formal action was taken during public comment.
