Township staff described the production as a multiday shoot arranged with a production company that surveyed the courtroom and brought trucks, trailers and a crew of extras. Mr. Bicolo told the committee the shoot involved a setup day, a filming day and a cleanup day. Per the town’s account, the production paid $2,500 for setup, $5,000 for filming and an additional cleanup payment; staff summarized the total receipts to the township as approximately $10,000. The production used the courtroom and temporarily covered an artwork because producers could not reach the artist’s family, staff said.
Committee members said the event demonstrated the potential to generate modest revenue and publicity for Springfield Township. Staff said they are preparing a formal ordinance and fee schedule to make the township “film ready” and to standardize permitting, traffic management and insurance requirements. No specific commercial terms beyond the fees described were included in the discussion.
The resolution passed on a roll‑call vote with Committeeman Capid, Committeeman Kaiser, Committeeman Weber, Deputy Mayor Laer and Mayor Yuber voting yes. Staff said they will return with a draft filming ordinance and recommended procedures.
