Allendale council adopts traffic ordinance, introduces $642,000 capital plan and flood-hazard update

The Allendale Borough Council unanimously approved Ordinance 25-09 on second reading at its June 12 meeting and introduced several follow-up ordinances, including a $642,000 capital ordinance to fund public improvements.
Linda, the borough clerk, read the second reading for Ordinance 25-09 (an amendment to Vehicles and Traffic, chapter 252-62A). With no members of the public speaking on the ordinance, the council moved and carried a roll-call vote to adopt the measure.
The council then introduced Ordinance 25-10, a capital ordinance authorizing $642,000 in appropriations for public improvements such as fire-department equipment, streetscape work, maintenance of memorial pond and athletic fields. The ordinance was introduced on first reading and published for further consideration; final passage is scheduled for the council meeting on June 26, 2025.
Council also introduced Ordinance 25-11 (an amendment to Vehicles and Traffic chapter 252-7A) and Ordinance 25-12, which repeals and replaces chapter 132 to adopt updated flood-hazard maps, designate a floodplain administrator and comply with county/state stormwater mandates. Officials said the flood-plain and stormwater changes reflect county-mandated rollouts.
The clerk recorded roll-call approvals for the introduced ordinances and the council noted publication and hearing dates for final consideration. The council’s actions set the capital and regulatory measures up for a final vote at the June 26 meeting.
