District staff presented a plan to adopt the state's Driver's Ed Solution software to manage online student signups, drive-time scheduling, parent notifications and driving logs. Board materials and staff described the software's benefits: online registration, wait‑list management, automatic parent notifications and standardized drive reporting to increase safety and reduce administrative double-booking.
To cover the software's processing cost, the board approved amending the 2025–26 and 2026–27 student fee schedules to add a $15 per‑student processing fee. Staff said the total charge a family would pay remains consistent with district practice (approximately $240 for driver training when all components are chosen) and that the $15 is a processing/transaction fee; the district said fee waivers would continue to be available for families who qualify.
Board members asked about vetting and implementation; staff said the software is widely used in the state and the district will receive training and begin implementation ahead of June 1 to support summer sessions. The motion to add the $15 fee carried by voice vote.
The board did not change other listed amounts: $55 for classroom instruction, $140 for behind‑the‑wheel driving and $25 for the district-administered driving test (the district said it will reimburse the $25 if a family chooses the DMV option). Staff will return with implementation details and training schedules for instructors.
