Construction and facilities contracts: The board accepted a low bid for a roof replacement at Glendel Elementary from CO Roofing (a base bid announced at $75,960) and approved the contract; staff explained the base scope covers sections that passed moisture testing while one failed section (the alternate) requires full tear-off and will be scheduled for summer work.
For athletic facilities, the board approved a $390,000 contract to construct a press box and athletic storage at George Caleb Bingham Middle School, with work expected to begin in November and finish by February. The board declined an alternate for a sound system and directed staff to pursue a lower-cost in-house option.
The board also approved replacing the turf field at Bingham (the turf was reported to be about 15 years old; typical lifespan 10–12 years). The board accepted a proposal under a Sourcewell contract from Mid America Sports Construction for $620,596 and expected the work to be completed before winter break so middle schools can use the field.
Other actions: The board approved a quarterly declaration of surplus items (including library books and aging furniture) to be posted on GovDeals.
What happens next: Staff said construction timelines run through winter and that transportation routing changes will be implemented for the start of the school year. Board members requested continued updates on route efficiency and contract progress.
