The board voted to accept a Hearts Safe Schools grant that will fund 69 AED units at a total award of $143,382, intended to serve the district’s 27 Title I schools. Dr. Stout credited work by Lori Holly and district staff in coordinating with Children's Mercy to meet grant requirements and secure the award. The grant also supports implementation of components of the district’s emergency operations planning and state requirements cited by staff.
Board members expressed appreciation that grant funding offsets district costs for required safety equipment. The motion passed on a voice vote.
