Board approves education, human resources and operations motions; one HR abstention noted

Education motions approved included travel-related expense authorizations, affirmation of the superintendent's HIV determinations for cases, approval of an overnight trip, staff approvals for a Language Enrichment program and MLL summer program preparation work, approval of extended-day wraparound services for immigrant students, and acceptance of a 2024–25 carryover for the ESA program. The education slate passed on a roll-call vote with recorded yes votes from the board.
In human resources, the board considered routine items—retirements, resignations, appointments, transfers, leaves of absence, co-curricular advisor appointments, coverage assignments and TurnKey trainer approvals—and passed the motions on roll call. One member stated she would "abstain" on item 14.2 because she knew one of the candidates personally; that abstention was noted in the roll call.
Operations motions approved included monthly bills (with a note that a $100 bus pass tag fine required tonight’s bill action), designation of the public agency compliance officer, monthly financial statements and line-item transfers, acceptance of donations, submission of a project to the New Jersey Department of Education and a resolution for a settlement agreement. A board member explained the inclusion of the single bill was to avoid a late fee.
The board also acknowledged there were no policies for approval that evening and reiterated public-comment rules under bylaw 0167. No public speakers presented during the meeting’s public-comment periods.
Outcome: motions across education, human resources and operations passed by roll-call votes; one abstention was recorded on HR item 14.2 and two abstentions were recorded during the president election earlier in the meeting.
